Košice, Bratislava (17.06.2017) Almost 70 seniors from 8 countries gathered for the 3rd edition of the Jozef Svoboda Memorial. The tournament was of a very good level, which was also confirmed by the participation of the national teams of Hungary, Germany, and Italy. In addition to the mentioned countries, freestyle wrestlers from Russia, Austria, Macedonia, Finland, Great Britain, and representatives of the host country also attended the IT. Košice was represented by the only senior, Michael Bodnár. He won a bronze medal in the 97 kg weight category.
In the first round, Mišo met an Italian, whom he defeated clearly by technical superiority 10:0. In the second match, a Russian awaited him, with whom he had a very balanced match, even though he lost narrowly 1:2, coach Jozef Lohyňa was satisfied with his performance. He won the next match against a representative from Hungary after a physically demanding match 3:1. In the last match for the bronze medal, he defeated a German 4:1 and could thus celebrate third place.
For the senior national team, Michael Bodnár helped to win 2nd place, under the guidance of national coach Rodion Kertanti. ah
