The freestyle wrestlers of the Košice 1904 Wrestling Club had a very good start to this year's league season, maintaining the closest contact with the other two candidates for the championship title, Vihorlat Snina and Dunajplavba Bratislava, after the first round (April 6 on home mats).
KOŠICE. The charges of coach Juraj Dancák also traveled to the second tournament, to the hot ground in Snina, in excellent spirits. However, after the duel with the hosts, in which the Košice team was confident after their home victory in the first round, everything was different. "It was already strange that the presidium of the Slovak Wrestling Federation met in Snina, the day before the tournament, for its off-site meeting. I didn't have a good feeling about it..." says the Košice coach.
HE NEGATED THE MAT REFEREES
His feelings that something was being prepared against the Košice team did not deceive him. The duels with Snina are always tough, and so was the one that took place last Saturday on the Snina mats. Because its result could say a lot about who could win the league. "Everything was decided by the duel of our Dan Pálinkás in the 74 kg category with the Ukrainian wrestler in the service of Snina, Perkaljuk, into which Marek Mlynek, now the former chairman of the referee commission of the Slovak Wrestling Federation, unjustifiably intervened. After one controversial moment, all three mat referees unanimously agreed and decided in our favor. Mlynek, however, jumped in from the side and changed the result in favor of the Ukrainian. Even though he is a member of the SZZ presidium, he had no right to interfere at all. With that decision, he overturned the result of the entire duel in favor of Snina; instead of 4:3 for us, it was 4:3 for Snina, which significantly moved Snina towards the league title. Before the final tournament in Bratislava, they practically have it secured, even if we were to beat them there, even if they were to lose to Dunajplavba..."
The Košice team can prove that they were wronged. "I filmed it myself on one DVD," says Juraj Dancák. "But unfortunately, it's so unlucky that the referee is blocking the very controversial moment. But you can still partially see it. In addition, we have confirmation that the whole action came after time, so that was also against the rules. We are still in contact with the coach of the Banská Bystrica team, who also filmed it, although we know that we will not change the verdict, even on the basis of a protest. No one will even be interested in investigating it, because there is no referee commission, no superior body, as there was in the past, that could impartially investigate it."
THE SEASON IS OVER FOR HIM
Juraj Dancák is very disgusted by everything. "It affected me very personally, it was such a black Saturday when everything conspired against us. And I have a feeling that it was intentional. Now I'm so upset about it that I can't even say whether we will travel to the last, third round of the league in Bratislava under these circumstances. I feel very sorry for our boys, who gave it their all. We also sacrificed Mišo Bodnár for the league, who tore his cruciate ligament in Snina, and instead of the Junior European and World Championships, he will have surgery, because the season is over for him. And that's only because he had to wrestle on an irregular mat that was constantly coming apart, was repaired several times, and he and his opponent fell off it during one action. Maťo Deák also got injured there, both have splints. We had a good start in the league and had hopes for a good result, but this way the whole season has lost its meaning for us."
