Veterans - Seconds Decide Success!

01. 01. 2020

Košice, Belgrade (August 22-31, 2014) From the youngest competitors in the veterans' category, a pair of freestyle wrestlers from our ZK Košice 1904 finished their fight at this year's World Championships in Serbia. Juraj Dancák Jr. provided a proper dose of adrenaline in the A category in the 85 kg weight class, when he was 3 seconds away from winning bronze in a match against the Mongolian representative DORJGOTOV Ganbat (MGL).

Juraj was winning 3:2, but in the last seconds, he was cautioned for passivity and his opponent gained a point. With the score at 3:3, the referees, despite a protest, declared MGL the winner, who, although he had two passivities, had one higher-rated 2-point action. He fought his way to a beautiful fifth place via the Pole CMOK Marcin Damian 10:0, and in the semifinals, he was not in good enough condition for the Kazakh representative URAZGALIYEV A., to whom he lost 6:16. Club colleague Štefan Csorba in the B category in the 76 kg weight class unfortunately only appeared in one match. The Iranian TOGHYANI RIZI R. was beyond his strength and won by technical superiority, and Štefan did not advance to further fights. We express our thanks that our club has the desire and will to be represented by older generations, who in the past as successful representatives won many an international match. Congratulations!

Štefan Csorba category B, 76 kg weight - 7th place/ 8 competitors

Juraj Dancák Jr. category A, 85 kg weight - 5th place/ 10 competitors
