  • correct technique (without excessive pressure on the cervical spine),
  • appropriate load considering age and physical maturity,
  • warm-up before bridging and relaxation after exercise,
  • including exercises to strengthen the neck and core, which support bridging

Yes, wrestling is a sport suitable from an early age. Children learn basic motor skills during training, develop body coordination, balance, and proper posture. Wrestling also strengthens natural flexibility, strength, and speed, with gradual and appropriate load according to age.

A great advantage is that children also learn important life values in wrestling – discipline, self-control, courage, and fair play towards opponents. Wrestling promotes healthy self-confidence, teaches children to handle challenges and respect rules. For younger athletes, training is conducted in a playful and motivating way to associate exercise with joy and friendship.

At the beginning, a child or beginner does not need any special equipment – comfortable sportswear (a T-shirt, shorts, or leggings) and clean indoor shoes are sufficient. Many training sessions are done barefoot since we train on a soft wrestling mat. Cleanliness of clothing and shoes is especially important to ensure the training takes place under hygienic conditions.

Over time, when the child starts attending training regularly and wishes to continue, we recommend acquiring a special wrestling singlet and wrestling shoes, which provide better stability and safety during grappling techniques. Some equipment can be obtained directly through the club or on the coach's recommendation, so parents do not have to worry about buying everything right from the start.

Trainings take place in the wrestling gym of ZK Košice 1904 at Triede SNP 61 (Social Pavilion) under the guidance of coaches Štefan Csorba, Martin Želinský, Jozef Jackanin according to age and performance categories.
