Juniors - We Have Three Titles, the Coach is Not Satisfied

07. 03. 2013

Košice, Šamorín (March 7, 2013) - From the Slovak Junior Freestyle Wrestling Championships, which took place in Šamorín on Saturday, March 2, our boys returned with three individual titles and the cup for first place in the team competition. However, the coach of the Košice juniors is not satisfied. We have slipped from last year's positions.

Last year in Bratislava, five were "golden": Dávid Berdis, Peter Janica, Pavol Kmeč, Jakub Sciranka, and Michael Bodnár. Our delegation traveled to Šamorín with a clear goal - to defend the number of first places. They did not succeed, and that is why our club coach is dissatisfied. "We went in as favorites, which was confirmed, but I cannot be satisfied with what we achieved. We realistically had a chance for four titles. We only won three. Michal Pavlík was unable to win against a 'Greco-Roman' wrestler and lost after a generally weak performance. I am a little sorry about the manner of the loss. The others confirmed their roles as favorites, and both Jakub Sciranka and Mišo Bodnár wrestled well. Gabi Tysz, who is still a cadet by age, gave an excellent performance. He is progressing and his diligence is an example. Paľo Kmeč has lost out by moving to a higher weight category and it will take a while for him to acclimatize there. Dávid Polačko also confirmed his rising form and after Mišo Bodnár's departure to the senior category, he can be number one. Certain training gaps of Slavo Kupčo and Dávid Berdis prevented them from placing better," coach J. Dancák evaluated the performance of the ZK Košice 1904 juniors at the domestic championship.

54 competitors took part in the championship. "From my point of view, this indicates a certain decline or the financial problems of the clubs," concluded the coach.
