Prievidza (12.09.2015) - Over 200 competitors gathered for the 43rd International Tournament of Youth and Friendship and the 2nd Women's Cup. In addition to Slovak and Czech clubs, countries such as Serbia, Ukraine, and Bulgaria also accepted the invitation. Under the guidance of coach Mgr. M. Jedlička, the following wrestlers competed for ZK Košice: P. Kundra, Hany Al-Kubaty, M. Závacký, J. Mesiarkin, Ľ. Kundrát, M. Sýkora, M. Bodnár, and among the women, D. Kollárová, A. Šambronská, and cadette S. Zámočníková.
The most significant success among the cadets was achieved in the 69 kg weight category by J. Mesiarkin and M. Závacký, who met in the final. Matej had to forfeit the last match due to a hand injury.
Among the cadets, P. Kundra won bronze in the 46 kg weight category.
The senior 86 kg weight category was the most populated. Among the 10 wrestlers, Ľ. Kundrát won "only" 4th place. In the match for bronze, he met our former OŠG pupil M. Jún from Slávia Snina, with whom he lost narrowly 12:11.
It was a great shame that the 97 kg weight category, in which our two seniors competed, was only filled with 4 wrestlers. M. Bodnár took first place and M. Sýkora second.
In the 52 kg weight category among the cadettes, S. Zámočníková dominated, winning 4 matches against representatives from BUL, CZE, and two from Slovakia. In the women's category, club colleagues met on the mat; in the 63 kg weight category, A. Šambronská won and D. Kollárová took third place. For the ZK Košice 1904 team, we took home II. place in the Women's Cup competition. ah
