On Saturday, October 27, 2012, the fifth round of the I. Men's League in freestyle wrestling took place in Teplice. It was the final round, and the title was decided between the freestyle wrestlers of Vítkovice and Teplice. The Ostrava wrestlers had a better starting position, with a two-point lead in the overall standings over Teplice.
The final round and the entire competition were evaluated by the club chairman and coach Milan Slončík: "We started preparing for the final round in Teplice right after the fourth round because it was clear that if we want to defend the title, we have to go in the strongest possible lineup. In the end, we managed to put together a team where we were essentially missing only two wrestlers from the main squad. With the lineup we went to Teplice with, I believed that we would defeat all our opponents and defend the title of Champion of the Czech Republic. We won the final round, defeating our opponents by a class difference. This year, we relied on the performances of our home-grown talent and Czech representative Vrati Chotaš, as well as our reinforcements from Košice: David Berdis, Slavomír Štofík, Matěj Deák, and Marián Hutňan. Thanks to the financial support of SMO, they have been wrestling for our club for the second year. We have been promised the hosting of Slovak wrestlers for next year as well. If the city of Ostrava continues to financially support first-league wrestling in Ostrava, we believe that we will be fighting for the title again next year. Next season, we want to build on our own home-grown talents Vraťo Chotaš, Tomáš Zezulák, Pavel Sztwiertnia, and also on juniors Marek Barva and Michal Smieško, and after a longer break, the returning Marián Slončík. These wrestlers should form the core lineup, which will be supplemented by the already mentioned wrestlers from Košice and our other home-grown talents Petr Krejčí, Honza Jasinský, Aleš Kolařík. We have been promised the participation of Marek Bešťák, Jirka Irain, and Jirka Kopecký on loan. All those named also contributed to winning this year's title."
