WRESTLING CLUB 1904 KOŠICE
Wrestling
Wrestling Club 1904 Košice is one of the oldest clubs in its field in our country. Organized wrestling in Slovakia originated 120 years ago precisely in Košice, and this milestone is also highlighted in the very name of this sports organization.
Gradual historical transformations brought about a renaming to Wrestling Club Lokomotíva Košice after World War II, and since 2010 it has been operating under its current name.
In addition to the long-term education of many generations of wrestlers, the club can also boast several significant achievements of its members. As early as 1927, Alexander Szabó from Košice won the title of European champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in Budapest, and another milestone was undoubtedly the bronze medal of Mikuláš Athanasov from the Helsinki Olympics in 1952.
Let us add that other representatives of Košice wrestling, namely Miroslav Luberda in Seoul and Boris Makojev in Tokyo, also competed under the five rings.
Wrestling Club 1904 Košice, which celebrated its 120th anniversary last year, is not just a sports club, but also a symbol of dedication and tradition. It is adorned with an invaluable contribution to the development of Slovak wrestling, and its activities continue to inspire new generations of athletes.
