Košice (December 9, 2012) - Almost one hundred of the youngest freestyle wrestlers from Hidásnémethy, Hungary, Krasnik, Poland, and Slovakia competed at the Mikuláš Athanasov memorial, which was organized by our Wrestling Club (ZK) Košice 1904 in the wrestling hall on Tr. SNP in Košice.
On two mats, more than five dozen children born between 2002 and 2006 and over 30 younger pupils showed their first skills. Both categories of wrestlers had a great role model before them - a bronze medalist from the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, a successful representative, and the first chairman of the Košice Olympic Club, M. Athanasov. Perhaps we saw among them future champions of Slovakia, champions of the continent or the world, or an Olympic medalist. It was precisely on them that their great role model, who so gladly used to visit them during his lifetime, cast his gaze from the wrestling heavens.
