SZZ - A. Baksay Resigned as SZZ President

26. 05. 2012

Košice (May 26, 2012) - Arpád Baksay is no longer the president of the Slovak Wrestling Federation (SZZ). He resigned from the post of the first man of Slovak wrestling last weekend, just two months after being elected to the position. The main reason for his decision was fundamental disagreements between the visions of the SZZ presidency members on the functioning and direction of Slovak wrestling and the principles of work and goals of the federation president, which he declared before his election.

"I wanted Slovak wrestlers to wrestle and have a perspective, and for the most work in the federation to be dedicated to youth education. This did not find support among the members of the presidency, who supported the Russian path, with which I fundamentally disagree. I will not be a Don Quixote, and therefore I resigned," A. Baksay told our website.

He added that he also addressed his resignation letter to the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic and filed a report with the competent authorities about suspicion of criminal activity within the federation, which he did not want to specify.

"I am sorry about what happened in the presidency, because Mr. Baksay was truly a guarantee of the transparency of the SZZ's functioning and the promotion of the interests of Slovak wrestlers, which was actually what all those who elected him as SZZ president demanded," reacted Ján Tokár Jr., president of the Košice 1904 Wrestling Club, to A. Baksay's resignation.
