Košice (May 22-23, 2015) This weekend, the 33rd edition of the tournament for the Cup of the Director of the Sports Gymnasium took place on the home mat. The matches were held in the training hall on one mat, in a pleasant atmosphere with 41 competitors from Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belarus, and Slovakia. The poor participation of Slovak competitors was perhaps due to a tournament on the same date in Dunajská Streda. Only MZK Bánovce nad Bebravou and Lokomotíva Rimavská Sobota came to Košice from Slovak clubs.
The tournament was also marked by celebrations. The club president, JUDr. Ján Tokár Jr., accepted a plaque for the 70th birthday of his father, the club's vice-president, Ján Tokár Sr., who could not attend the tournament. The congratulations of the club's sports director, Jozef Lohyňa, also went to coach Mgr. Juraj Dancák, who celebrated his 60th birthday on the day of the tournament.
In the premises of the wrestling hall, we had the opportunity to welcome the former general secretary of the SZZ and national team coach, Ľubomír Lohyňa. We also welcomed people who significantly contributed to the quality of the tournament, the deputy mayor of the Košice West district, Ing. Andrej Sitkár, and the director of OŠG, PaedDr. Tatiana Švecová. Thanks also go to Milan Vaňura, Štefan Csorba, and the Provident company, represented by Martin Želinský.
In the lowest weight category, Peter KUNDRA /42 kg/ competed and placed 2nd (3), after dealing with V. Gunár from LRS and being no match for Budyka from POL Rzeszów. In the 58 kg weight class, Martin VANGOR did not continue after two losses against POL Banaszek and BUL Neychev due to injury and placed 5th (5). Karol KONDÁŠ 63 kg, after two losses against Polish representatives and a loss to the winner of the weight class, Bonev from BUL, placed 4th (4). Matej ZÁVACKÝ, in the most populated weight class of 69 kg, won the first round after a tough fight against Selersky from POL Teresin, but in the next two fights, he lost by technical superiority to CZE Piskoř and POL Chwiej and finished 6th overall (8). In the 76 kg weight class, Hany AL-KUBATI lost four matches and defeated only an opponent from Bánovce, Michalička, and finished 5th (6). In this weight class, Samuel MOCHNÁČ fared better; after two losses, he defeated Al-Kubati, Michalička, and Antolak from POL and placed 3rd (6). In the U23 category, in the 86 kg weight class, we had triple representation. The Košice wrestlers: Matúš SÝKORA, Viliam KORBA, and Ľuboš KUNDRÁT were no match for the Pole from Teresin, Szymanski, who defeated everyone by technical superiority and won this category.
