Košice, Dunajská Streda (3.10.2015) A long journey to Dunajská Streda awaited our pupils, who went to fight for the title of Slovak champion in freestyle. In a competition of 20 clubs and 88 competitors, a relatively small number of participants gathered compared to previous years. Despite the smaller number of boys from our club as well, coach Mgr. Miroslav Jedlička brought home a silver cup in the team evaluation. Two titles were won by Jakub Závacký and Viktor Váňa.
The younger of the Závacký brothers, Jakub, fought his way to the final with relatively clear victories. The final match belonged to the Košice wrestlers, where Jakub met Filip Titka. Jakub was more technical and did not let his third title of Slovak champion slip away. In this 44 kg weight category, three club friends met right away. In addition to the aforementioned finalists, Sebastián Rusňák also entered the fights. He lost the match for bronze and fought for at least fifth place. In the most populated weight category up to 52 kg, Mikuláš Lešo competed with two wins and two losses, finishing in the final fifth place among 15 wrestlers. Ladislav Pinko (68kg) also had his first championship, and with one victory, he took home 4th place for starters. Our successful Viktor Váňa won the heavyweight category (85 kg) clearly and without hesitation, and therefore deservedly took home the title of Slovak champion for 2015.
Thanks to the performance of his charges, our pupils' coach was decorated with a silver medal and won second place with the boys in the team evaluation, ahead of the competitor from Dunajplavba Bratislava. The gold remained at home in Dunajská Streda. ah
