On August 11, 2018, the first wrestling tournament on the beach in Slovakia, called "Beach Wrestling," took place. The Košice team could not miss the first edition, and so under the coaching tactics of Michael Bodnár, four boys traveled in a reduced lineup. Andrea Šambronská and the injured Matúš Sýkora came to Považská Bystrica to support the team.
Female and male wrestlers from Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and local clubs from Považská Bystrica, Prievidza, Trenčín, Nitra, and Košice participated in the tournament. The rules were different from classic wrestling. The wrestler's task was to get 3 points before his opponent. 1 point could be obtained for a push-out or for getting behind, and 2 points were for a throw to a dangerous position.
In the senior category, all our boys won gold medals.
Dávid Berdis in his weight category easily dealt with a Czech and a local competitor from Považská Bystrica, defeating both clearly 3:0.
Matej Zavacký in the 74-kg category had only one opponent from Slovenia, with whom he had two balanced matches, which he eventually won 3:2 and also 3:2.
Košice's dominance was also confirmed by Róbert Szatmári in the 79-kilogram weight category, who had three matches and won them sovereignly with only 1 point lost, defeating competitors from the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Prievidza.
Roman Peťák in his 86-kilogram weight category had no opponent and so wrestled one category higher in the 92-kg, where out of four matches he was only bested by Jozef Mesiarkin Sr. Roman took home the cup for both first and second place.
In the team evaluation, our club placed second behind the winners from Slovenia, and the home team of Považská Bystrica finished third. mys
