Košice (1.4.2017) The first Saturday of April was marked by the 1st round of the Slovak Senior League. On our home turf in the training hall, we were able to welcome the participating clubs of Slávia Snina, Vihorlat Snina, Dunajplavba Bratislava, and AC Nitra. Our relatively young team, consisting mainly of juniors, made a quite good start to the first round, with our club currently in third place. The competition was held in a team-versus-team system. Coach Miroslav Jedlička had only a limited number of competitors from the seniors who regularly participate in the training processes. Despite this, we managed to defeat the teams of Slávia Snina 5:3 and Dunajplavba Bratislava 4:3. We ended with a 3:5 loss against Vihorlat Snina, which was strengthened by Ukrainian wrestlers, and we have a 2:6 record against TJ AC Nitra, which was supplemented by Russian competitors. The second round awaits us in June in Nitra. ah
During the league, the SZZ awarded the most successful wrestlers for 2016. In the cadet, junior, and U23 categories, our Košice boys were among the best: Gabriel Tysz, Michael Bodnár, and Jozef Mesiarkin.
We must not forget the people who have dedicated part of their lives to wrestling. SZZ awards for life jubilees were personally received by Jozef Železník and Marián Jaroš, and plaques are also ready for last year's jubilarians Peter Okoš and Imrich Palanský.
