The wrestlers of our Wrestling Club (ZK) Košice 1904 will only compete in freestyle, which they primarily focus on. Dávid Berdis (in the 55 kg weight category) and Dan Pálinkás (up to 74 kg) will be defending their titles; Marián Hutňan will not be defending his first place due to injury.
Our senior coach, Juraj Dancák Sr., did not have a hard time deciding who to take to Trenčín before the championship. Only the injured Daniel Dancák, Jaroslav Novák, and M. Hutňan were in a somber mood. "I think that within the possibilities, I mean the shortness of time, we tried to do the maximum that could be done. But only the competition will reveal the truth. Our hot prospects? 55 kg Pastor or Pavlík, 60 kg Berdis, 66 kg Okoš or Kmeč, 74 kg Pálinkás or Kačeňák, 84 kg Bodnár, 96 kg Jaššo, and 120 kg Geralský. Unfortunately, due to unhealed injuries, D. Dancák, Novák, and Hutňan will not be able to compete. The nomination also includes several young boys like Kupčo, Tall, Sciranka, Polačko, Harangózo; some of them will be competing in such an important competition for the first time. Ambitions? Hard to say. Those who are aiming for the national team jersey should step up. Only a victory in the weight category gives the opportunity to compete at the European or World Championships. The mood is good, the boys are 'fired up,' now just a good draw and a little luck," said coach J. Dancák Sr. before leaving for Trenčín.
