Back on the competition mat after the holidays
On September 7-8, 2019, the traditional international "Youth" tournament was held in Prievidza, where our wrestlers could not be absent. Under the leadership of coach M. Jaroš, 8 competitors in the senior category and 1 in the older pupil category traveled. Wrestlers from Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary, and local clubs from Slovakia participated in the tournament.
In the older pupil age category, Samuel Beck competed, who lost to a wrestler from Prievidza by technical superiority in the 62-kg category and did not get into the repechage, thus saying goodbye to the tournament.
In the 57-kilogram weight category, Samuel Bučko won a bronze medal for us. After three losses, he improved his mood and snatched the bronze with two victories.
Makar Vyhivski performed sovereignly in the 70-kilogram weight category, dealing with all his opponents by technical superiority and losing only 2 points. He successively defeated two competitors from the Czech Republic, the local Prievidza, and finally a competitor from Ukraine.
In the 74-kilogram category, Matej Závacký wrestled. After a close 11:6 victory, he fought his way to the semifinals, where he lost to a wrestler from Hungary by technical superiority, and in the repechage, after a balanced fight, he eventually lost by fall to a competitor from the local Prievidza.
In the 86-kg category, Roman Peťák won bronze. He lost to M. Pecha 6:0 on points, in the second round, he defeated a competitor from Dunajská Streda by the narrowest margin of 8:7, and in the third round, he lost by technical superiority to a Ukrainian.
In the 92-kg category, we had two representatives, namely Patrik Tomlein, who lost to all his opponents by technical superiority and finished in 5th place. Martin Sciranka fared better. After a unfortunate loss by fall to a Czech, he secured the silver medal with three victories over his club colleague Patrik Tomlein, whom he defeated by technical superiority, then over D. Pecha from Bratislava, also by technical superiority, and the third victory was secured by a walkover against a competitor from Serbia, who could not compete due to injury.
The second gold for Košice was won by Matúš Sýkora in the +97 kilogram weight category, who defeated a competitor from Nitra by fall.
We congratulate our boys on their successes and wish them much strength for the next training sessions and competitions!!!!
