We often say that youth needs great role models. The wrestling community in Košice undoubtedly has its own. Other cities can certainly envy them, all the more so because on Saturday, December 10th, the capital of the east will host the Mikuláš Athanasov Memorial, a bronze medalist from the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
KOŠICE. The successful representative and first chairman of the Košice Olympic Club, Mikuláš Athanasov, did a great deal for the good name and development of sport, especially wrestling, in the city. That is why the competition in honor of his name should be highly commended. On the mats in the gym at the Social Pavilion, boys born in 1998, 1999, and 2000 will compete from 11:00 a.m. Perhaps among them, we will see some future champions of Slovakia, or even an Olympic medalist. And all this is aimed at promoting wrestling through this year's memorial.
