Košice, Sofia (25-28.2.2016) Three of our boys participated in an international tournament in Sofia last weekend. The most successful was the junior number one, Gabriel Tysz (97kg), who won bronze in a strong competition. His junior colleague Jakub Sýkora (65kg) and Jakub Sciranka (74kg) as a U23 representative also traveled to the Petko Sirakov – Ivan Iliev tournament.
On the first day of the event, Gabriel Tysz and Jakub Sciranka entered the fights. In the 97 kg weight category, Gabi met the Cypriot Kaouslidis in the first round, to whom he lost 1:11. However, that was Gabi's first and last loss at the tournament. In the repechage, he technically dealt with the Bulgarian Gotchev 20:7. After this "wild" match, Gabi had the fight for bronze waiting for him, in which he won against the Hungarian Juhász 7:4. The second of our two competitors, Jakub Sciranka, did not fare well at this event. Kubo felt the "Georgian school" in both matches. His opponents Kenchadze and later Gigashvili were beyond his strength, and he lost to them both 0:10.
Jakub Sýkora wrestled on the second day of competition in the 65 kg weight category. In the first round, he met the Romanian Ducov. After a 9:2 loss, the fresh Slovak Champion had to settle for the repechage. In the repechage, he dealt with the Kosovar Curim 10:0, but in the next match, he was no match for the Japanese Tanabe. After a close loss (4:6), Kubo missed out on the medal fights. js
Congratulations and good luck in future tournaments!
