Pupils, U23 - Silver for Košice from the Gemer Cup

| Košice, Rimavská Sobota (May 9, 2015) Košice wrestlers also came to fight at the annual spring tournament "For the Gemer Cup." 72 boys in the older pupils and U23 age categories participated in the 33rd edition. The tournament was attended by 4 countries: Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine, and Slovakia. The Košice wrestlers traveled under the coaching leadership of Mgr. Miroslav Jedlička and Štefan Csorba; the club secretary Marcel Miček and referee Andrea Šambronská-Hajduková were also present.

| Košice, Skopje (May 8-9, 2015) This weekend, our preparatory coach and active wrestler, Martin SCIRANKA, traveled to faraway Skopje for the international "Macedonian Pearl" tournament. In the 86 kg weight category, Martin did not fare very well, finishing third out of three competitors. In the first match, he faced a Bulgarian representative, to whom he lost 0:5. In the second match, he faced the home Macedonian, losing by technical superiority 0:10. According to Martin, the tournament was more about quality than quantity. | Košice, Bucharest (May 7-10, 2015) This year, the junior national team was not missing from the UWW tournament in Bucharest, Romania. The tournament is among the highest quality, with many countries participating. Our freestyle wrestlers have the opportunity to get to know opponents from other countries, whom they may meet at the European Championships in Istanbul (TUR). Coach Mgr. Juraj Dancák traveled with his charges Ľuboš Kundrát, Gabriel Tysz, and Daniel Chomanič from Vihorlat Snina. Due to health reasons, the most successful junior in the 60 kg weight category, Jakub Sýkora, could not complete the trio.

| Košice, Teresin - POL (18.04.2015) 167 wrestlers from 24 clubs and countries such as RUS, LTU, GER, UKR, SVK, and POL attended the international tournament in Teresin, Poland. Within the framework of good relations with Polish clubs, ZK Košice 1904 was not absent from this competition. Coach Mgr. M. Jedlička, along with Mr. M. Závacký, traveled with pupils in this lineup: brothers Matej and Jakub Závacký, F. Titka, R. Kapitančik, P. Tomlein, V. Váňa, H. Al-Kubati. The first and last of the named delegation were the most successful. Hany Al-Kubati and Matej Závacký stood on the third step of the podium and won a valuable medal from the international tournament.

| Košice (16.04.2015) The III. round of the city league was held again in the premises of the Wrestling Gym of ZK Košice 1904. Fewer children participated than in the previous rounds, but despite this, they showed great performances and did very well in the fights. We bring you the results from the matches:

| Košice, Walbrzych (POL) (23-29.3.2015) The Poles were the first to organize the approved U23 European Championships in the town of Walbrzych. Four Slovak and also Košice representatives Jakub Sýkora 61 kg, Jakub Sciranka 74 kg, Michael Bodnár 86 kg, and Gabriel Tysz 97 kg traveled to the championship under the guidance of the club's sports director Jozef Lohyňa, who represented the national coach Miroslav Jedlička. The president of our club, JUDr. Ján Tokár Jr., also went to support the boys, and at the same time wanted to get information about organizing the championships in Košice in 2017.

| Prievidza (21.3.2015) The young hopes of the Košice club fought on the mats of Baník Prievidza for the title of Slovak champion in Greco-Roman style. With 94 "Greco-Roman wrestlers" participating, we succeeded in the two highest weight categories with Matej Béneš and Viktor Váňa! Jakub Závacký and Filip Titka had to settle for third place and a bronze medal. Just one place lower finished Sebastián Rusňák and Viliam Baran. Lukáš Lasky had his debut at the championships, his start in this age category was not successful and he finished in 6th place, as did Samuel Zummer, who did not place. Coaches Mgr. Miroslav Jedlička, Štefan Csorba, and Bc. Martin Sciranka have a lot of work to do with the pupils, and we believe it will be even better next year. We are keeping our fingers crossed!
Cadets - Slovak Championships in Freestyle and Greco-Roman Style

| Košice, Snina (7.-8.3.2015) The sports hall in Snina became the venue for the Slovak Championships in both styles. On Saturday, freestyle wrestling took place, and on Sunday, classic style. According to a report from coach Mgr. Juraj Dancák, the boys did quite well, although there could have been more titles. On Saturday, we took III. place in the teams and two titles, won by J. Mesiarkin and T. Krupjak, both currently students at the Sports Gymnasium in Košice. P. Kundra became the Vice-Champion of Slovakia in the 42 kg weight category. K. Kondáš, M. Závacký, and S. Koršňák won bronze in freestyle. On Sunday, we improved by one place, and the II. place in the teams is a commendable achievement, given that ZK Košice 1904 specializes in freestyle. Among individuals, J. Mesiarkin added another title to his Saturday one, and S. Koršňák, also a student at ŠG Košice, won gold in addition to T. Krupjak. The classic style brought bronze medals to P. Kundra and S. Mochnáč.

| Sofia (BUL) (5-8.3.2015) A UWW U23 tournament was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, in which the Slovak national team also participated. Under the guidance of assistant coach Marek Sciranka, our four Košice wrestlers and also junior representatives Jakub Sýkora, Gabriel Tysz and seniors Jakub Sciranka and Michael Bodnár traveled. This tournament was one of the last in the boys' preparation for the European Championships, which will take place in two weeks in Wałbrzych (POL). The tournament's lineup was not about quantity, but about quality, as confirmed by the freestyle wrestlers from the participating countries of Turkey, Georgia, Romania, Moldova, Serbia, Algeria, Finland, Japan, and the host Bulgaria.

| Košice, Kecskemét (HUN) (28.02.2015) The Slovak junior and cadette national team received an invitation to a tournament in Kecskemét, Hungary. The designated national team coach, M. Timko, traveled with seven girls, who won third place in the team evaluation. The Kollárová sisters also contributed to the overall performance. Nina was more successful, standing on the second step of the podium. Unfortunately, Dominika did not start this tournament on the right foot, literally, as she injured her ankle after 10 seconds in the first match. There were 6 competitors in the 53kg category, which, under the FILA system, meant third place for Dominika despite the loss.

| Košice, Plzeň (CZE) (27-28.2.2015) An annual international tournament was held in the Czech city of Plzeň, which was not missed by the Košice wrestlers. Coach Mgr. J. Dancák, assistant coach of the pupils Štefan Csorba, and Mr. Závacký traveled with 9 competitors. The tournament was, as in other years, rich in participants. Among the 200 competitors from 29 clubs and three countries, the wrestlers of ZK Košice 1904 did not get lost.

| Bialogard (20-21.2.2015) Last weekend, the 7th edition of the Marcin Jurecki Memorial (a former Polish representative, participant in the Sydney Olympics) took place in Bialogard (POL). Wrestlers from our club (61kg – Jakub SÝKORA, 74kg - Jakub SCIRANKA, and 86kg - Michael BODNÁR), who competed under the banner of the Slovak national team, were also present at the tournament. This edition was one of the most high-quality in recent years, as 134 competitors from 10 countries competed here. In addition to competitors from domestic clubs and Slovakia, wrestlers from Romania, Russia, Latvia, Finland, Belarus, Italy, Germany, and the distant South African Republic also participated in the tournament. Each of the boys competed in 4 matches, which can help them in further preparation for the individual peaks of the season.
