+
01. 04. 2017
| Košice (1.4.2017) The first Saturday of April was marked by the 1st round of the Slovak Senior League. On our home turf in the training hall, we were able to welcome the participating clubs of Slávia Snina, Vihorlat Snina, Dunajplavba Bratislava, and AC Nitra. Our relatively young team, consisting mainly of juniors, made a quite good start to the first round, with our club currently in third place. The competition was held in a team-versus-team system. Coach Miroslav Jedlička had only a limited number of competitors from the seniors who regularly participate in the training processes. Despite this, we managed to defeat the teams of Slávia Snina 5:3 and Dunajplavba Bratislava 4:3. We ended with a 3:5 loss against Vihorlat Snina, which was strengthened by Ukrainian wrestlers, and we have a 2:6 record against TJ AC Nitra, which was supplemented by Russian competitors. The second round awaits us in June in Nitra.

25. 03. 2017
| Košice, Bánovce nad Bebravou (25.03.2017) The first test at this year's Slovak championships did not go well for our younger pupils. 24 clubs from all over Slovakia participated in the tournament, and almost 130 competitors competed. The charges of coaches J. Dancák, Š. Csorba, and M. Sciranka traveled with only seven members. The greatest success among them was achieved by Samuel Beck in the 57 kg weight category, who placed 5th out of 15 competitors. In the 62 kg weight category, the last scoring position and sixth place were taken by Radovan Košťa. The debut start at the Slovak Championships did not bring the expected success for the other boys, as they were eliminated in the opening matches. We believe that next year it will be much better and ZK Košice will return to the top ranks. Referees Ivan Vymazal - international referee - were nominated for the tournament, and Matúš Sýkora became a newcomer among national referees after successfully completing the practical part. Andrea

This time on the soil of Bialogard, Poland, where he managed to win a podium finish last year. The coach and sports director in one person, Jozef Lohyňa, could rejoice when Mišo managed to repeat the success. His teammate Jozef Mesiarkin's debut in the 86 kg weight category at an international tournament was not successful, and he was eliminated after two losses.

18. 03. 2017
| Košice, Budapest (18.03.2017) After a long break, women's wrestling is back in the spotlight. Nina Kollárová brought us great joy by traveling to an international tournament with clubs from southern Slovakia and the national team coach, Agáta Strelczyk. Our only cadette freestyle wrestler did not get lost at the well-attended tournament. She competed in the 49 kg weight category a total of 4 times. Among the 13 competitors, she had 3 wins and 1 loss. After her first victory, a Hungarian representative, the eventual winner of the weight class, awaited her, with whom Nina lost. She won the next match against a representative from Croatia and was thus able to avenge her loss from last year. In the fight for bronze, she dealt with a Hungarian. Before the upcoming Slovak championships in May, this is a good test and a great placement.

11. 03. 2017
| Košice, Nitra (11.03.2017) TJ AC Nitra hosted the teams involved in the Slovak Junior League. ZK Košice maintained their second place even after the second round, behind the clear point lead of Dunajplavba Bratislava. The president of the ZK Košice 1904 club, Ján Tokár Jr., was also present at the league round to encourage the boys. Coach Miroslav Jedlička briefly evaluated the performance of his charges: "We traveled to the SDL with 10 wrestlers. Of these, four wrestlers could not physically participate in the fights for various health reasons: Kundra, Kapitančík, Neupauer, and Al-kubati. With their participation, they gained a certain number of points, thus helping the team. On the other hand, Mesiarkin did not compete in the league due to family reasons, and Plavčan without giving a reason, but he would have gained 5 points for the team just by his participation. The best performances from the boys were given by the brothers J. and M. Závacký, but the others did not disappoint ei

Seniors - Kyiv IT - Debut in the 97kg Weight Class Didn't Go Well for M. Bodnár
+
03. 03. 2017
| Košice, Kyiv (3.3.2017) The senior national team moved to Kyiv after a 10-day training camp in North Ossetia. The home representative Michael Bodnár also competed at this prestigious Ukrainian UWW tournament. He wrestled for the first time on the international mat in a higher weight category. Together with his colleague Jozef Jaloviar, they filled the 97 kg weight class. However, he cannot be satisfied with the result, as he did not advance to further fights after the first match and a 1:3 loss against the home UKR. Throughout the year, however, he will work on mastering the weight category and being able to assert himself. It is also preparation for next year's announced changes by the world wrestling federation UWW regarding weight categories. Our Mišo should be preparing for the 90 kg weight class. The senior national team has a week of training on home mats ahead of them, after which they should move on to the next camp. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the preparation.

We won a title thanks to Samuel Bučko, who, although a member of the Stará Ľubovňa club, has been studying and training in Košice for his first year.
