18. 06. 2016
| Košice, Hidasnémeti (June 18, 2016) The youngest wrestlers participated in an international tournament in nearby Hidasnémeti to measure their strength against peers from neighboring Hungarian and Slovak clubs. The premises of the local school welcomed 100 young wrestlers to the "Rákoczi Cup" tournament. The Košice delegation traveled to the tournament under the leadership of a trio of coaches: Š. Csorba – Bc. M. Sciranka – Mgr. J. Sciranka. The wrestlers were also supported by the president of the club, JUDr. Ján Tokár, and many parents. The preparatory wrestlers did very well, winning most of their matches, and everyone managed to win a medal! Some did not have opponents in their category and so they wrestled in friendly matches. The coaches agree: "young wrestlers need to attend such competitions, where they gain valuable experience and thus also grow in performance."

Gaško, representing the Police Force of the Slovak Republic, as well as our club and country, was not absent from this championship. We are very glad that we have results not only among pupils, students, and representatives, but also among the working graduates of our club. Wrestling was also included in the European Games, but then it was removed from the category. Gabriel Gaško tried the closest sport, jiu-jitsu, where he asserted himself and won gold. He also signed up for the sport of rope climbing, where he triumphed. Great news for our colors, keep it up!

A week before the tournament, there were 16 pupils on coach M. Jedlička's roster. On Saturday before departure, the situation was completely different. Only half of them traveled with coaches Miroslav Jedlička and Martin Sciranka. The absence of many was mainly due to their health condition. For these reasons, the pupils' coach also expressed dissatisfaction with the result of the tournament itself, as we won only one title.

In addition to the displayed albums, photographs, badges, numerous commemorative cards, trophies, and medals from the most significant sporting events, we were able to hear from the champion a review of his sports career after the presentation. Of course, the coaches, who were an integral part of Jozef's sports career, Mikuláš Timko and his brother Ľubo Lohyňa, were also significant figures. Only one of them, M. Timko, came to personally thank him. He did not hide his enthusiasm and joy that after so many years they received recognition in this form as well. A successful event, signed by people (especially František Jakub and the painter Ján Gerboc) who appreciate a person and managed to dust off the faded glory, for Slovakia, of such a significant sports personality as Jozef!
