28. 10. 2017 | Košice, Snina (28.10.2017) The Memorial of Wrestling Personalities in the city of Snina in the U23 category and also the III. round of the regional pupil league took place on one day on the Snina mats. The junior national team coach, Mgr. Erik Cap, called the brothers Matúš and Jakub Sýkora to the team. In the 74kg weight category, Jakub won his first match, defeating a Pole narrowly 10:8, but later lost to a colleague from the national team, A. Gulaev. He did not compete in the repechage due to injury and could thus say goodbye to the tournament. In the 125 kg category, Matúš won twice against a Ukrainian, whom he defeated by fall in both cases. Another gold metal was thus added to his collection. Wrestlers from Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, and the host country's national team, Slovakia, which won the club evaluation, participated in the tournament. msy

21. 10. 2017 | Košice, Snina (21.10.2017) Slávia Snina, for the first time, included a tournament in the SZZ calendar organized in honor of the significant wrestler, Ján Židzik. 64 freestyle wrestlers from Slovak clubs, as well as from the Czech Republic and Moldova, gathered at this first edition. The preparatory coaches, Štefan Csorba and Jozef Jackanin, traveled with a large delegation of their charges, as did the senior coach, Miroslav Jedlička. The children and men together managed to win first place in the team evaluation by a large margin. The delegation also included referees Matej Gardoš, Hany Al Kubati, and the Sýkora brothers, Jakub and Matúš, and Andrea Šambronská was in charge of the presentation and table scheduling for the entire tournament. We were also pleased with the high attendance of parents, and the club president, Ján Tokár, was not absent.

06. 10. 2017 | Košice, Kraśnik (POL) (6-8.10.2017) At the beginning of October, the annual tournament "XXVI International Tournament for the Cup of the Kraśnik Land" took place. Coach Mgr. M. Jedlička and 6 competitors traveled to this event. States such as Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Spain, Canada, and clubs from the host country, Poland, participated in the tournament.

30. 09. 2017 | Košice, Snina (30.09.2017) The final third round of the Slovak Junior League was hosted by Snina. After the second round, we had a 12-point lead. The delegation was not at 100%, and for the final round, we wanted to travel with the maximum possible number of 12 boys. However, we did not succeed, but despite this, seven freestyle wrestlers managed to fight and we held on to second place. Although with only a narrow three-point difference from third-place Nitra, the boys managed it even without coach Mgr. Miroslav Jedlička, who had coaching duties at a tournament in Ukraine. Senior representative Michael Bodnár therefore stood on the winner's podium on behalf of the coach. Dunajplavba Bratislava, which currently has the best squad consisting mainly of cadet representatives, won the SDL Champion title with a 61-point lead. 30. 09. 2017 | Košice, Trenčín (30.09.2017) This is the 11th year that Trenčín has decided to organize an event for children in honor of the wrestler, Mr. Ladislav Mlynek. Štefan Csorba, along with his new coaching colleague Jozef Jackanin, traveled with the entire delegation by train. It was a very successful event, also from the parents' point of view. This is evidenced by the large delegation of children who decided to put their training skills to the test at the tournament. The result was an excellent second place in the teams. We believe that winning the cup will mean even greater motivation and joy from training for the children. ah

24. 09. 2017 | Košice - Kemerovo (RUS) - 22.09.- 24.09.2017. Košice senior Michael Bodnár flew to faraway Kemerovo with the assistant national team coach, Marek Sciranko. The SZZ President Mgr. Ján Karšňák, European Championship medalist Akhsarbek Gulaev, and Taimuraz Salkazanov also joined the delegation. The traditional, very high-quality international tournament did not bring success to our club. Michael lost in the 97kg/23 weight class to Russian wrestler Ovsjannikov 0:3 and did not compete further. Despite this, it was a successful tournament for the Slovak colors, as Taimuraz Salkazanov won the gold medal and was also declared the most successful foreign wrestler. Losses are part of sports; it is a pity that our freestyle wrestler finished in the first round, but we believe he learned as much as possible from the Russian school and will work on eliminating his mistakes in training. The main competition of the year, the senior Slovak championships, awaits us in November. ah

23. 09. 2017 | Košice, Nitra (23.09.2017) The 36th Jozef Svitač Memorial had a sweet taste for our club this year. We finished in 2nd place among the teams! For various health, personal, and other reasons, our lineup was down to just 4. All the more reason for everyone to try and fight in their weight class. We most value the gold medal of our preparatory wrestler, Edo Kukura. In the 28 kg weight class, he found no rival and with four wins, he is taking home a valuable cup. In the U23 category, in the 74 kg weight class, Jakub Sýkora competed after a long break due to health problems. After three victories, he took first place, confirming that he is returning to the mats in top form. After a long wait, a student of the sports gymnasium in Košice, Samuel Koršňák, also got a victory, winning a gold medal in the 86 kg weight class after two matches. In the heavyweight division, Matúš Sýkora cannot be missed; he did a little better at this tournament than last week in Prievidza. He emerged victorious

16. 09. 2017 | Košice, Prievidza (16.09.2017) The city of Prievidza and the Baník Prievidza Wrestling Club organized the 45th International Youth and Friendship Tournament on Saturday, and at the same time, the 4th Women's Cup. The event was of a high standard, with fights taking place on four mats with over 200 wrestlers from 10 countries. Our club also participated in the tournament with female and male freestyle wrestlers. It is a pity that more pupils, for whom this tournament was intended, did not travel. The test in the new competition season resulted in 5 podium finishes for our colors. The coach, Mgr. M. Jedlička, was relatively satisfied with the delegation. Two gold medals went to junior Dominika Kollárová and senior representative Michael Bodnár.

07. 07. 2017 | Košice, Warsaw (July 7-9, 2017) As every year in the period before the top championship, the international Poland Open, Ziolkowski, and Pytlasinski tournament was held in Poland. A total of 412 competitors from 15 countries competed in women's and men's freestyle and in Greco-Roman style, where they also tested their and their opponents' readiness before the upcoming World Championships in Paris. Marek Sciranka traveled with the Slovak national team and our charge Michael Bodnár.

06. 07. 2017 | Košice, Dortmund (25.6-02.07.2017) At the European championships, we had only one representative from our club, Jozef Mesiarkin. A total of 20 juniors competed in the 84 kg weight category. The draw assigned Jozef a preliminary round match against the Turkish representative, Osman Gocen. However, he was unable to defeat him and lost by technical superiority 2:12. After the Turk's loss in the next round to a Russian and eventual finalist, our hopes were definitively dashed. Jozef did not compete in any further fights and finished in 16th place in the final table. At these Junior European Championships, a medal was won for Slovakia after a long period. A. Gulaev took care of the bronze in the 74 kg weight category. ah

17. 06. 2017 | Košice, Bratislava (17.06.2017) Almost 70 seniors from 8 countries gathered for the 3rd edition of the Jozef Svoboda Memorial. The tournament was of a very good level, which was also confirmed by the participation of the national teams of Hungary, Germany, and Italy. In addition to the mentioned countries, freestyle wrestlers from Russia, Austria, Macedonia, Finland, Great Britain, and representatives of the host country also attended the IT. Košice was represented by the only senior, Michael Bodnár. He won a bronze medal in the 97 kg weight category.

17. 06. 2017 | Košice, Ostrava (17.06.2017) The mini-delegation of the Košice 1904 Wrestling Club finally traveled to the annual tournament on our competition calendar. Participation was uncertain until the last moment, due to various reasons, both health and personal. The number of competitors for coach Mgr. Miroslav Jedlička was reduced to one pupil and two juniors. We did not manage to get on the podium, although Samuel Beck in the 63 kg weight category and Tomáš Krupjak were the closest, both finishing in 4th place. Along with T. Krupjak in the 84 kg weight category, Samuel Koršňák also competed, for whom the tournament ended with an injury and an overall sixth place.
